Morris Animal Foundation
Morris Animal Foundation launched the Canine Cancer Campaign to help scientists worldwide prevent, treat and, ultimately, cure cancer in dogs. Half of all dogs will be affected by cancer and it is the number one killer of adult dogs. The Canine Cancer Campaign is a global campaign to cure canine cancer in a dog's lifetime, the next 10-20 years. Through the Canine Cancer Campaign, Morris Animal Foundation is creating a healthier tomorrow for dogs. Research funded through the campaign will help develop prevention strategies, test new treatments, establish tools for cancer researchers and train new scientists specializing in cancer research. Part of the Canine Cancer Campaign is the K9 Cancer Walk program raises funds and awareness for the Canine Cancer Campaign. Participating in one of these walks is a great way to memorialize a beloved dog lost to cancer and create a brighter tomorrow for your current companion. By supporting the K9 Cancer Walk program, volunteers and participants help their best friends live longer, healthier lives.

NorCal Aussie Rescue, Inc.
The goal of our non-profit organization is to rescue, evaluate and find new homes for Australian Shepherds that are abandoned in shelters, on the streets or in back yards. We spend between $65,000- $75,000 annually on vet care, and have found homes for more than 915 dogs since 2004. We rescue 5 to 10 purebred Aussies per month from Bakersfield to the Oregon border, and built a Sanctuary in Grass Valley where we house 18-22 rescued Aussies at any given time. The collapse of the housing market continues to contribute to the increase of homeless Aussies. So far in 2010, there are more abandoned Aussies than there were at this time in 2009. We are in crisis mode at the moment, with an over crowded Sanctuary and not enough foster homes. Thanks to private support, we are able to board dogs when we have no other option. We are connected to our adopter for the life of the dog. Our annual reunion at Pt. Isabel is attended by 100 or more proud owners who joyfully show off their adopted Aussie! We are thrilled that we were featured in the April/May, 2010 issue of BARK magazine. Learn more about us at: www.norcalaussierescue.com Thank you for your support!
A Chance for Bliss
Why we do what we do..
By caring for this unique segment of the animal world, our intent is to provide a previously overlooked and underserved population a safe haven to live out their lives in a setting which affords them dignity, grace, love, and peace. Our History: This is our 10th year of caring for this most deserving segment of the animal kingdom, and most people assume we got involved with this type of work after long imagining we would start an animal sanctuary, but that is not the way we got here. As our history page suggests, we started out slowly, but have gathered more and more momentum over the years. We are now an official public charity and currently the sanctuary is home to more than 80 animals. Each and every one of our residents had become displaced due to no fault of their own. Some for reasons which are easy to understand and some for reasons we will never understand. Most of our flock was deemed to be un-adoptable, or even disposable due to their age or condition. Some of our newest arrivals have found their way here as the result of the recent housing crisis, while others became homeless as a result of a domestic dispute.
