Why Help?
Did you know one in four dogs will die of cancer? Morris Animal Foundation has committed to curing canine cancer within the next 10-20 years. The advancements in cancer treatment for dogs can even be applied to humans, especially children.

Through the Canine Cancer Campaign, Morris Animal Foundation is creating a healthier tomorrow for dogs. Research funded through the campaign will help develop prevention strategies, test new treatments, establish tools for cancer researchers and train new scientists specializing in cancer research. By supporting this campaign, you can help to one day cure this disease that affects so many of our "best friends."

The Canine Cancer Campaign supports:

New Treatments : Numerous veterinary institutions are collaborating on a clinical trial, led by the National Cancer Institute, to test rapamycin, a promising drug to fight bone cancer.

Tumor Tissue Bank : The campaign helped establish the Pfizer-CCOGC Biospecimen Repository, which includes samples of the most common canine cancers. These samples are helping scientists study cancer and determine why one dog with a specific cancer responds to therapy and another does not.

Prevention Strategies : The first prevention study is under way at Colorado State University, and researchers are analyzing cancer susceptibility in golden retrievers, of which an estimated 60 percent die of cancer.

Training : The Foundation is funding programs at Colorado State University and the University of Minnesota, which are training students who plan to become scientists specializing in cancer.
